The Golden Lane - Prague, Czech republic

RefNum: 07738-16. Legend says that during the Rudolf II.'s times alchymists lived in these houses, attempting to turn metal into gold. It originated in the second half of the 16th century, when archers and goldsmiths from the castle settled here (former name Zlatnická St.). Poor people lived here during the 18th and 19th century. Several famous writers dwelled here in the 20th century (F. Kafka, J. Seifert). The Golden Lane is now occupied by souvenirs, bookshops and other vintage shops.
